Morse Code Generator: Text to Morse Code

Type or paste English text into the Morse code generator above. This text-to-Morse converter supports letters A–Z, numbers 0–9 and common punctuation. Each letter becomes a group of dots and dashes, with a space between letters and a slash (/) between words. Press Copy to take the result as plain periods (.) and hyphens (-). Unsupported characters stay underlined so you can find and remove them; playback skips them, and copied results use # in their place.

HELLO → .... . .-.. .-.. ---

Decode

Morse Code to English Decoder

Paste dots and dashes into the same input to translate Morse code to English. The decoder detects the direction automatically: separate letters with one space, and words with a slash (/) or two or more spaces. It also accepts dot symbols such as · and dash variants such as _ and –. If a group cannot be decoded, it stays visible with an underline and an explanation. Check its spacing, remove the invalid group, or choose to translate the input as text instead.

.... .. / -.-- --- ..- → HI YOU

Morse Code Translator with Audio

Press Play to hear the translated message and see the signal lamp flash with each dot and dash. Choose 5, 10, 15 or 20 words per minute (WPM), then open Sound settings to adjust the tone and volume. The basics

What Is Morse Code?

Morse code represents letters, numbers and other characters with short signals called dots and longer signals called dashes. A dash lasts three times as long as a dot. Gaps separate the signals, letters and words. International Morse code can be sent using sound, light or any signal that can be switched on and off. This translator uses International Morse code.

Morse Code Translator FAQ

01How do I translate text to Morse code?

Type or paste your text into the input box. The Morse code appears instantly, with no Translate button to press. Choose Play to hear it, Copy to take the dots and dashes, or Share to create a link to your message. Letters A–Z, numbers and common punctuation are supported.

02How do I decode Morse code into English?

Paste dots and dashes into the same input box. Use one space between letters and a slash (/) or two or more spaces between words. For example, .... .. / -.-- --- ..- decodes to HI YOU. Unknown groups are underlined so you can check and correct them.

03Can this translator decode an audio file or a picture?

This version accepts typed or pasted text and dots and dashes. It can play the result as sound, but it does not transcribe audio recordings, listen through your microphone or read Morse code from pictures.

04What is SOS in Morse code?

The letters S, O and S are written ... --- ...: three dots, three dashes and three dots. The SOS distress signal joins those nine marks into one continuous signal, without normal letter gaps. The SOS example on this page plays the three letters with standard letter spacing.

05How do I share a Morse code message?

Enter a message, then press Share to copy a link containing up to 500 characters from your input. The recipient can open the link to see the translation and press Play to hear it; sound does not start automatically. Anyone with the link can open the message.
